Dominican Republic

1964 to the present

Foundation
In 1964, upon their arrival in Ocoa, the Sisters began to work in a small, poorly-equipped clinic and then in several rural clinics. In March 1968, the Health Department asked the Sisters to be the administrators of the San Jose Hospital which belonged to the government.

Mission
To be a religious presence witnessing to a loving God, full of tender compassion for the sick, the elderly and young people.

Today
Two RHSJ form the community in Ocoa and pursue their mission. In 2010, a community pastoral project was launched in Rancho Arriba in an outlying rural area. One sister is engaged in this project. The Sisters also collaborate in accompanying the Associates.
