Foundation
In October 1873, seven Hospitallers of St. Joseph arrived in Saint Basile. They came to replace the Sisters of Charity of Saint John, N.B. who had been in charge of the Madawaska Academy from 1857-1873. “Hospitallers” became teachers, but also intended to open a hospital.

Mission
By their presence, the Sisters witness a loving God, especially among the elderly and the staff, and for some in apostolic commitments around the region.

26 RHSJ reside at the Hotel-Dieu
