While the Congregation of the Hospitallers of St. Joseph  strengthened its roots in France, Mr. Le Royer prepared for the establishment of a work of colonization and evangelization on the Island of Montreal.  In 1641 he chose Paul de Chomedey as Governor of the foundation and Jeanne Mance to establish the Hotel Dieu.
